OK, maybe 5 or so...
As I was pondering a new subject for today's blog, I began searching some top tech blogs for interesting topics. Up popped a great article featuring 29 Unique Ideas for Publishing Student Work by Jacqui Murray Master Teacher, Technology at Curriculum Study Groups, Orange County, California. I spent quite a while visiting each site to determine if it fit certain criteria:
Therein lies the interesting challenge of providing great resources for elementary. It can be accomplished, but it does take time and care. After vetting out these sites, I offer you the following: 1. Create a magazine cover 2. Glogster—posters 3. Newspaper—create a newspaper clipping 4. PhotoPeach–online slideshows (free is very limited) 5. Poster maker—like an eye chart 6. Screen Capture—full webpage 7. Screen capture–Screenr 8. Screencast-o-matic Three of the sites are screen capture with audio, and that may not appeal to you. The first, third and fifth sites are actually the most creative and do not require log ins. Students can create a magazine cover with an uploaded image and they have 17 text entry points for information. A quick example is provided on the left. The third site allows students to create a newspaper clipping with title, subtitle and informational text. On site 5, students can create a quick "eye chart" by typing simply typing a sentence. After thinking about it, each of these site products actually beg to be printed out and displayed, don't they? If you would like to investigate Glogster or any of the screen capture software, drop me a line and we can work together to formulate an exciting project idea. Have a great Spring Break! See you on the sunny side of April! Lorrie |
